My Inspiration

Dr. Nadine Burke Harris is truly an inspiring, ambitious woman who takes on all the roles of being a surgeon, pediatrician, researcher, public health leader, speaker, advocate, author, and founder of the Center for Youth Wellness in San Francisco, California.

She has ground-breaking work that altered her career after discovering and bringing awareness to Adverse Childhood Experiences [ACEs] and how it affects someone's life.

After learning about ACEs in my first ever Introduction to Social Work class, I instantly became drawn into the science and psychology behind this topic. Realizing how your childhood can actually determine what the outcome of your life will be, made me more determined than ever to devote my future career to helping children get the best childhood they need and deserve - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Dr. Nadine Burke Harris is one of my biggest inspirations within the Social Work field and I encourage you to listen to her TED talks!
